Kuhns Group, Inc., founded in 2000, is a general contracting firm located in Dayton, Ohio. We have built or renovated more than 350 restaurants across seven states. Kuhns Group, Inc. specializes in QSR (Quick Serve Restaurant) remodels and new construction. We pride ourselves in offering a true turn-key experience. From conception through completion, Kuhns Group will be your partner bringing your vision to reality. Kuhns Group Inc. is a YUM! Brands Inc.-approved general contractor and has established relationships throughout the QSR industry.

Meet the Leadership Team

Chad Kuhns

Owner

Chad has been in the construction industry since 1993. He started his career by constructing single family homes on Lake Norris in Lafollette, TN. While earning his Bachelor of Science degree in Construction Management from the University of Cincinnati, Chad worked for Miller Valentine as an assistant project manager, specializing in turn-key commercial and tenant finish projects. Upon graduation from University of Cincinnati in 2000, Chad established Kuhns Group, Inc., dba Kuhns Construction.

Chad’s experience in construction includes restaurants, churches, auto dealerships, assisted living facilities, commercial office buildings (tenant finishes), site excavation and site work, erection of heavy timbers, engineered steel buildings, pre-cast concrete structures, and wood frame homes. Chad’s vast knowledge has helped to establish Kuhns Group, Inc as one of the premier quick-serve restaurant contractors in the country. Chad has contributed to several fast food brand design councils, and has been on the ground floor of several newly established franchises.

Shelly Woodard

Chief Financial Officer

Shelly has been employed by Kuhns Group since April 2006. She has worked as an accountant in commercial construction since 2001, gaining a vast knowledge of the industry. With more than 20 years of experience, her goals are to always maintain accounting standards and controls, while continually streamlining processes in order to scale. Shelly is a member of Construction Financial Management Association (CFMA). She is also a member of the Dayton Chamber of Commerce’s Executive Women’s Council and was chosen as a member of the Empower Cohort #4 in 2022.

Shelly has a background in commercial real estate and serves as our in-house real estate professional, managing our local commercial real estate portfolio. Shelly coordinates leasing, tenant finishes/improvements and maintenance. She has been a licensed Realtor ® in the state of Ohio since November 2006 and a long-standing member of the NAR, OAR, and Dayton Association of Realtors®.

Brad Bach
Project Superintendent
Brad has been employed by Kuhns Group since 2016, but has been in commercial construction for more than 20 years. He graduated from Sinclair Community College in 2004 with a degree in construction management. Brad enjoys spending time with his wife and 2 daughters. His favorite food is tacos.

Scott has been employed with Kuhns Group since 2016 as a project superintendent. Prior to Kuhns Group, he spent more than 20 years as a self-employed contractor, remodeling QSR restaurants and residential homes.

Alec Fenner
Project Superintendent
Alec has been employed by Kuhns group since 2018, which was his start in commercial construction. Alec started as a carpenter with Kuhns Group, but has worked hard to earn a role as a project superintendent. Alec’s background consists of value-add rental properties.

Tim Hart
Project Manager
Tim has been employed by Kuhns Group since 2013. He began his construction in 1985 near Ann Arbor Mi. Life relocated Tim back to his hometown of Jamestown OH. Tim’s nearly 40 years of experience has been spent in various types of construction such as civil work, highway and bridge construction, commercial buildings and site work. He looks forward to enjoying some relaxation, traveling, and hunting in the next few years.

Jessie Langley
Project Manager

Jessie has been employed as a project manager since 202. Prior to Kuhns Group, Jessie served in the US Navy for four years and has worked in various engineering roles. He’s overseen a myriad of remodels, retrofits and new builds during his time at Kuhns. When he’s not in the office, he enjoys time with his his wife and four wonderful children as well as hunting, fishing and being in the weight room.

Doug Maiden
Warehouse Manager
Doug has been employed with Kuhns Group since 2014. He started as a part time employee, but hard work lead him to become our warehouse manager. Doug preps all of our job materials, handles inventory, manages incoming and outgoing shipments as well as loading our equipment containers for each job. Doug makes it possible for each job to run as smoothly as possible. His prior experience includes landscaping management.

Ron McKinley
Project Superintendent
Ron has been employed by Kuhns Group since 2016 as a project superintendent. Ron started his career in 1998, completing commercial projects across 15 different states. In recent years, Ron has taken on a managerial role within Kuhns Group, providing leadership to our team of project superintendents and providing on-site training.

Superintendent
Pete has been employed by Kuhns Group as an on-site superintendent since 2017. Pete has more than 20 years experience in “QSR” construction as well as 10 years experience in residential construction. He has managed numerous remodels across several brands including Wendy’s, Taco Bell, KFC, Arby’s and Donato's.

Brooke has been employed with Kuhns Group since 2012, giving her more than a decade of experience in administrative and accounting roles. Brooke has honed her skills over the years to support the smooth functioning of operations. Outside of work, her greatest role is being a mom of two active boys. She also loves to cheer on the Cincinnati Reds!

Skylar has been employed by Kuhns Group Inc. since 2023 as a Project Manager. “As a project manager I enjoy the process of carrying out a plan from a vision to reality. I strive to ensure a well executed project that is done with the highest quality and on schedule.” Outside of work Skylar enjoys spending time with his family, woodworking and enjoying the outdoors.

Brian has been employed with Kuhns Group since 2009, starting as a tile installer. For the past 7 years, he has worked as a project superintendent overseeing restaurant remodels in the field. Brian is proud of how much he has grown with the company as an employee, a human being, a husband and a father. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with family, working on his hot rod, camping, and going to the sand drags.

Jerry has been employed by Kuhns Group since 2016. He has worked in the restaurant construction industry since 1985, serving various roles such as superintendent, project manager and VP of Operations.
